“I won’t be a rock star. I will be a legend.” — Freddie Mercury

“I went along and basically learned a few of the songs they were doing at the time, which were quite a few of the songs we ended up doing on our first album.” — John Deacon

“Then we did what we called basically I suppose a club tour in England, which was the time I think that our second album came out, we club toured around the whole country where the venues were hold to five hundreds upwards to that sort of thing you know.” — John Deacon

“We were disliked by the press in the early days because they couldn’t put their finger on us, and that was the case with Zeppelin as well.”—Freddie Mercury

“From the beginning of Queen there was such momentum that I never had any time to do anything else. My energy was 95% focused on the band.” — Brian May

“The first nine albums there was never a Synthesiser, never any Orchestra. There was never any other player except us on the albums.” — Brian May

“Following the enormous conjecture in the press over the last two weeks, I wish to confirm that I have been tested HIV positive and have AIDS. I felt it correct to keep this information private to date to protect the privacy of those around me. However, the time has come now for my friends and fans around the world to know the truth and I hope that everyone will join with my doctors and all those worldwide in the fight against this terrible disease. My privacy has always been very special to me and I am famous for my lack of interviews. Please understand this policy will continue.” — Freddie Mercury

“My tribute really was “The Show Must Go On.” There’s a lot in there. I remember writing this line — “my soul is painted like the wings of butterflies” — and I brought it to him one morning, a little worried about what he would think of it. I said, “Do you think that’s okay? Can you sing that?” And he went, “Darling, I can sing that and I will give it my all.” Because he knew what it was all about and it didn’t need to be said.” — Brian May

“We’re not going out there with somebody pretending to be Freddie Mercury. We are what we are now; we’re not what we were then, we’re just going out, playing our songs.” — Roger Taylor

day 12 - your favorite musical artist’s life story

Fav band is Queen, so I figured I would try to tell their story in various quotes I found on the internet.

day 3 — 5 songs for your desert island livin’ and why

“Interstate Love Song” — Stone Temple Pilots Mad love for STP. To me, this song is rock bliss and chill. Perfect for hooping on my desert island.

“Tenement Funster>Flick of the Wrist>Lily of the Valley” — Queen it’s actually three songs but they lead into one another on purpose. Queen is my favorite band of all time and the varying styles of this selection shows their versatility. Whenever I feel like completely belting out an epic song, I turn to Queen. Thank you Freddie, Brian, Roger & John. <3

“Wish” — Nine Inch Nails sooo great to just let the pent-up restlessness and irritation out. Works up a sweet sweat hooping to it too.

“Paint It Black” — The Rolling Stones I’ve been singing this song since I was 3 or 4 years old, so why not?

“Rebubula” — moe. (Summer Camp 2008 finale) my favorite moe song….about 18 minutes of just pure moe.-ness…..guitars, drums, bass, lyrics, moe.rons & s’campers singing along….the super-happy-hippie memories of that night and the whole freakin’ festival…. :) just right to get me into my beach-bum-hoopin-hippie mindset if I’m on the beach, especially since the lyrics are talking about being a sailor (or maybe a rum lovin’ pirate, which in turn I am/love)
